On a rainy but beautiful Sunday morning, friends and family gathered for Star’s dedication. While this dedication may seem like nothing but a tradition to most people, to us it reminds us of the responsibility God gave to parents, to raise children to have a heart after HIM.
To keep it completely 100 with you, I didn’t take this responsibility seriously until Sparkle came along. We would go to church + pray, but we really didn’t incorporate his truth into their daily lives. I was completely ignorant about how much children soak up during their toddler years. They are like sponges. I shared before, but once I saw how much SJ and Sparkle were soaking us his word once a week during children service at church, I started making minor changes throughout the week.
Although Star is only three months, I do little things with her like praying with and over her, listening to lots of gospel music and even sermons while she is near. SJ and Sparkle even like to hold her hand when they are praying together. My prayer is that the three of them will not only be unashamed, bold and courageous but that they will be powerhouses for their generation.
As a praying mom, I already see the fruits of my prayers for them. I see something in Star I have never seen with a child before. Her spirit is one of an angel, I said it before but each and every day its like OK God, I see you, I hear you. It’s like she brings light to dark places.
It dawned on me yesterday that naming her Star was no coincidence.
