One down , One more to go is what I say everyday when we put Sparkle on the potty in the morning. I had a meeting for SJ the other day and the woman was completely surprised at the fact that SJ is completely potty trained. We only experienced 1 accident during the night and he has been potty trained for a couple of months now.
First rule for us is no pants. My kids prefer to wear less clothes around the house, so this was no big deal for either one of them. Next is to have a portable potty around where they are comfortable, seems a little gross. but it won’t always be this way forever, just until they get a little comfortable. In addition to sitting him on the potty in the morning, after any meal or snack time, before bed we wake him up during the night to pee. One last thing we did that I think sealed the deal was buying SJ boxers and basketball shorts like daddy. We explained that only big boys who go to the potty wears this and the more he goes to the potty the more we can buy him more boxers/briefs and basketball shorts. Safe to say he has enough to last him for the rest of the year!
Sparkle watched him so much in the early stages that we put a potty right next to his. For now we have her in pull ups and she goes occasionally but we aren’t completely aggressive with her as we were with SJ. She’s turning 2 in July so I’m pretty sure we will be potty trained before her birthday.
Happy Potty Training!!!
