Cheers to Christmas Weekend.
Earlier this week, I sucked it up and took the kids to see the Holiday lights at our local zoo. The weather was in the 50’s which was perfect for this time of year. Stephen has worked insane hours lately, so he couldn’t join us. Although I was hoping he could, I didn’t want to disappoint the kids and stay home.
The “super mom” in me, wanted to try to do Christmas Activities all week-long but I was being so unrealistic. It was impossible for me to do that with Star. Some days I forgot she is still a newborn, I have to take it easy, do what I can and make sure I get my proper rest. Whenever I take it easy and relax, guilt creeps in and makes me feel like I’m short-changing the kids with having fun. The zoo was perfect!!
We arrived 30 mins before opening which helped our night run so smoothly. Not only did we avoid rush hour traffic but I got there just in time for us to find a great parking space.Another bonus was us being one of the first ones to enter the zoo.
t was a really cute night where we talked and looked at all the lights Star was fast asleep in her stroller. I kept looking down to check if she was still breathing. I guess I bundled her up so good, she was nice and cozy. Gosh, I wish we can trade places some days!! It was good she stayed asleep, it gave me some time with just the two of them. The ran around and admired all the light, and any animals who were out rode on the carousel and sang jungle bells all night long. Our last stop was the train ride around the zoo. As we were riding it, I asked the kids were they having fun! They both screamed YES! A few moments passed and Sparkle looked back at me and said ” Mommy, you are the best mommy ever! Thank you”.
Those words were so on time!
