Any exciting plans this weekend?
We are spending the weekend, doing hair, cleaning up and resting. Saturday, Stephen and I have a date night scheduled, so I’m truly looking forward to that. This is our 2nd date night for the year, guess you can say we are off to a good start!!
Wednesday, I celebrated turning 27! Can’t even believe I’m 27. 3 more years and I’ll be 30. Apart of me wanted to reflect on how I spent the majority of my twenties. I’ve read and heard that supposedly, your 20’s are reserved for being selfish, to travel a bit, to find yourself. Somewhere in between thinking about the saying and reading it two or three times, I missed it. I traded it for this wonderful family of mine. As always, its the one aunt who still calls and sings happy birthday all off key and than asks ” do you feel any different being 27″. My answer has always been no, but this time I do feel a little different. I guess being close to thirty dawned on me that I’m a grown woman ( beyonce voice ), but no seriously, I’m grown. I am a wife, a mother, business owner, these three titles sparked me finding myself in my twenties. No better way if you ask me.Everyone doesn’t take this route, everyone doesn’t feel different when they turn 27, but I do. For the first time, I said yes to same question my one aunt asks me every single year since I was old enough to understand the question. This year, my birthday wish is to work on myself more. Take time to work on my talents and gifts, travel solo, at least once a year, go to concerts, have late night date nights and sleep in. Maybe I’m having a midlife crisis really early but I just want to enjoy the rest of my twenties not being pregnant ( lord please, I beg you ), traveling a little more and really enjoying myself and my family.
Speaking of traveling, what are your views on traveling solo? It’s becoming the new normal for folks to relax and rest alone. A few friends of mine had this talk over dinner on my birthday, and I am excited, all of my travel solo talks sparked interest in one of my single friends. We have a couple of trips planned in the upcoming months, so I’m trying to see where I can sneak in a solo trip. Any fun recommendations for me?
Every year on our birthday, we usually have date night at a fancy restaurant, but we can do that anytime. For the past couple of months, I’ve been eying cooking classes at Sur La Table and Hudson Table. Whichever classes open up we will take. Seems like everyone received a cooking class for Christmas they are all sold out. unbelievable.
anyway a few pictures from my special day.
PS. Stephen also bought me a new camera for a christmas/birthday present and we could not figure out how to take pictures of our food without it coming our blurry. That food was so darn good and picture worthy at the same time.
This guy.. how did God see fit to give me him. Gosh, I love him.
