For the past week, this mama was drained with the fighting that occurs between siblings. Sparkle has learned the word MINE and she’s becoming a bit aggressive with the words and demanding things from SJ. They are obviously at this stage where everything is either SJ’s or it’s Sparkle. Some days, I catch myself growing frustrated about this stage and wondering when it’s going to end. They share a room, they share toys and most importantly they share mommy and daddy. I realized during these time that I need to have one on one talks with each of them. Although Sparkle can’t talk, she understands what I’m saying when I say Stop, or Share with SJ. She Gets It. But it’s SJ who understands exactly what Im saying and he can help me teach her to Be Nice. The other day I secretly watched them playing together and it was Sparkle who took the toy from him and screamed mine, I heard SJ say to her, Be Nice ,Summer. He got a little upset but he kept his composure. She stared at him for a bit and dropped the toy and moved on to something else. We will see how long this last before she’s back to the screaming. Going through this amazes me that while we are teaching them, the process becomes a teachable lesson for us as well.
